Hardy boosts casualty division

CNA Hardy has expanded its casualty division with the appointments of Jeremy Smart and Steve Piper.

Smart joins from Aegis London where he served as casualty class underwriter and Piper joins from QBE where he served as head of London market, UK and Ireland liability.

Hardy hired Craig Bennett, the former casualty and motor director at QBE Europe, in November 2014 to kickstart its casualty business.

The team will be focused on building its book in both domestic and international markets.

Hardy added that it is currently looking at employers', public and products liability, as well as some other specialist classes such as product guarantee and recall to complement the casualty business that's written in London.
