HDI Global opens new Swiss office to target expansion

European industrial lines insurer HDI Global has strengthened its presence in the Swiss market with a new office in Berne, its third in the country after Zurich and Lausanne.

Dominique Marzetta has been appointed to head the new office. Over the past thirty years, he has worked in different functions for two major insurance companies in Switzerland.

The company stated that the move is a part of its strategy to continue international growth in important business regions. This involves expanding mid-market business with medium-sized companies in selected target regions with strong economies in order to diversify its portfolio.

"Berne is Federal City and also the centre of one of Switzerland's most important economic regions," Hans Mazenauer, manager of the Swiss branch office of HDI Global, commented.

"In future, this will be our base for looking after our customers in the Espace Mittelland region with high-end insurance solutions for national and international companies."

The Espace Mittelland region is one of the seven major regions in Switzerland, and alongside Berne, it comprises the cantons of Solothurn, Fribourg, Neuchâtel and Jura.

"The Espace Mittelland region is home to a large number of mid-sized Swiss industrial customers. We already have a good number of customers here but we want to acquire significantly more in the future. We therefore believe it is important to have our own office in this region that takes us closer to customers and brokers."

HDI said that it will offer all key business lines of industrial insurance in Berne, such as property, liability, accident and marine, as well as engineering insurance. A special focus will be on insurance products for small and mid-sized companies.

Mazenauer added: "Mr Marzetta has many years of experience in the Espace Mittelland region and the companies located here. He has a very good understanding of their needs and also has broadly based knowledge of all the business lines. We are therefore delighted to have recruited Mr Marzetta for our new office in Berne."

HDI is part of the Talanx Group and therefore a sister company of Hannover Re.
