HIIG launches new E&S brokerage business led by ex-Hanover

US-based Houston International Insurance Group (HIIG) has launched an excess & surplus (E&S) brokerage business unit to provide liability and property solutions to the wholesale brokerage market.

The unit will be led by Mark Boland, supported by a team of experienced underwriters. Boland’s previously held roles as president, E&S at the Hanover Insurance Group; president of Hermitage Insurance; and senior vice president at Endurance.

HIIG said the new unit will add an excess facility in the near term.

Andrew Robinson, chief executive of HIIG, said: “We are thrilled to have Mark and other members of the team join HIIG to launch our E&S Brokerage business. Their track record in this business is outstanding and their following amongst the wholesale brokerage community is impressive.”

"This is exactly the type of specialty business HIIG wants to develop and pursue in the future," he added. "We are quickly becoming an organisation where top-tier talent like Mark and the E&S brokerage team desire to be. We are excited about our future and the launch of this new unit.”

Boland commented: “HIIG’s commitment to the E&S brokerage market is compelling and I couldn’t be more excited to launch this new business unit. Moreover, HIIG is on a path to becoming one of a few top-tier specialty insurance companies and I am excited to join the team in pursuit of those ambitions.”
