Howden launches new Dutch marine unit
Howden Broking Group, part of Hyperion Insurance Group, has launched a new Rotterdam-based marine insurance operation.
The company said the unit is designed to deliver a range of marine insurance solutions for clients. It added that the launch had been driven by client service and will work predominantly in the Dutch marine and liability sectors, including construction and all associated risks.
The new unit will be led by Jan Oosterom and Martin Besemer, formerly of Rotterdam brokers Concordia de Keizer.
“This is an important milestone within our strategy of creating a leading global marine practice. The Netherlands is an important territory for us, especially with the largest port in Europe. We already have a significant portfolio here, so the launch of an operation to serve clients directly is a natural progression for us,” said Adrian Colosso, CEO of Howden Broking Group.
Oosterom, managing director of Howden Insurance Brokers Nederland, added: “This is an exciting time to join Howden, as we work with the wider Group to deliver a range of marine insurance solutions for clients who will benefit from access to one of the largest niche marine capabilities in the market. Placing international business in the local market also presents Howden with a strong opportunity for growth in the region.”
