Hyperion X Analytics strengthens team with three appointments

Hyperion X Analytics, the analytics and advisory division of Hyperion Insurance Group (Hyperion), has hired three team principals: Mark Shumway, head of advisory, Iain Davie, head of catastrophe modelling, and Michelle To, head of business intelligence.

Shumway will specialise in re/insurance capital management, rating agency advisory, shareholder value, captive strategy, regulatory capital, and fundraising. He joins from JLT Re and previously worked at AM Best as a lead insurance credit analyst. He began his career at KPMG as a consultant and is a CFA charter holder.

Iain Davie, head of catastrophe modelling, brings over 20 years of underwriting, exposure modelling, and technology consulting experience to the team. His recent focus has been on the use of technology, both in the assessment of catastrophe risk as well as more generally, and especially in turning raw data into actionable insights. He joins from insurance technology company Quantemplate where he was head of solution architecture. He has previously held senior catastrophe modelling positions at QBE and XL Capital.

Michelle To, head of business intelligence, brings strategic consulting, advisory, and analytical expertise to the group. She joins from Aon Consulting, Bermuda, where she advised clients on growth, portfolio optimisation, and value creation. Previous to this, she worked as a financial analyst at Guy Carpenter where she was heavily involved in new business production, client innovation projects, and risk management.
