Insurance group Hyperion confirms two senior promotions

International insurance group Hyperion has appointed Mark Craig as group chief financial officer. He will take up the role from January 1, 2020.

The company also announced that Mark Hudson will take on the post of group finance director.

Craig joined the insurer in 2017 and is currently head of investments and debt capital markets. At the moment he is responsible for Hyperion’s investment programme, which includes identifying, executing and financing mergers and acquisitions and other growth initiatives. He manages the group’s treasury and cash reserves.

In his new post, Craig will join the group executive committee and the company's board of directors.

Hudson joined DUAL, Hyperion’s underwriting business, in 2016 as CFO. He has more than 25 years of general insurance experience, including roles as director of finance and operations at Novae Group. In addition to his new role, Hudson will retain his current responsibilities as group CFO and CRO at DUAL.

The insurer said Craig and Hudson would undertake a full handover from Richard Houghton, the interim group CFO, before Houghton leaves Hyperion later this year.

David Howden, Hyperion CEO, said: “As we look to the next 25 years, Mark and Mark are well placed to support us in our next stage of growth. Hyperion is a people first organisation and these promotions are a testament to the strength of the talent we have within the group and the bench strength of our finance team.

“I am incredibly grateful to Richard for the support he has provided over the course of the last year. We wish him all the best for the future.”
