JLT poaches Marsh specialty exec
Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) has appointed Jim Pierce as chairman of its new US specialty business, JLT Specialty Insurance Services.
Most recently, Pierce was chairman of Marsh's global industry practices, a role in which he provided leadership to Marsh's aviation, construction, energy, infrastructure, marine, mining, power and rail practices. Previously Pierce worked at JLT USA.
This follows the appointment of Michael Rice as chief executive officer (CEO) and Patrick Donnelly as president and deputy CEO of JLT’s new US specialty operations.
“Together this highly experienced and entrepreneurial team will drive the execution of our US specialty plans, with a particular focus on attracting leading industry professionals and winning clients in our targeted specialty areas of energy, construction, financial lines, credit, political & security and aerospace,” said JLT.
Rice said: "Jim has a proven track record in the US market as an entrepreneurial and passionate client advocate and people leader. His appointment is a very significant step in our plans to build a US specialty business of scale and relevance that adds real client choice to the market and empowers its people.
