JLT Re poaches Gen Re exec to boost US regional practice

Reinsurance broker and consultant JLT Re (North America) has appointed Tony Sammur as executive vice president in Stamford, Connecticut.

Sammur will focus on the continued expansion and development of JLT Re’s regional team led by John DeMartini, executive vice president, the company said.

Sammur joins JLT Re from Gen Re, where he was a production underwriter within North American treaty - the mutual practice. Prior to that, he was the president and CEO at Gen Re Intermediaries (GRI), where he focused on the regional practice and directed analytics efforts associated with reinsurance structure and pricing. Prior to Gen Re, he was with Aon Re working on its cat management analytics team.

"We are pleased to welcome Tony to JLT Re," said George Daddario, deputy CEO at JLT Re NA. "Tony’s ability to develop and maintain longstanding relationships, coupled with his background in the regional and analytics space makes him the perfect fit for our team."

"Tony’s knowledge in both the regional practice and analytics area is the type of expertise that allows JLT Re to provide market leading and tailored reinsurance solutions to our clients," remarked DeMartini.

Sammur added: "I am looking forward to working with the team at JLT Re to support our clients for the long term. This is an exciting next step in my career with a business that clearly has a great future."
