Jupiter poaches KPMG’s director of climate risk and decarbonisation to drive growth in Europe

Jupiter, the climate analytics and risk management firm, has set the stage for its expansion in the UK and Europe with a new appointment that is responsible for driving growth in the region.

Jupiter hired Marc Lehmann, formerly director in KPMG’s climate risk and decarbonisation strategy group in London, as head of business development and partnerships for the UK and Europe.

Lehmann has also held senior roles at insurance companies, including serving as head of client service development at AIG and global head of catastrophe risk management for corporate clients at Willis Towers Watson.

Rich Sorkin, Jupiter’s chief executive officer, said European multinationals are sophisticated when it comes to climate-related risk. Lehmann’s expertise in insurance and cat risk in Europe, as well as his experience in growing new businesses, will help drive Jupiter’s “first wave of geographic expansion outside of the US, building on our existing relationships with Zurich Insurance Group, BP and several others across the continent,” he said.

Lehmann emphasised the important role climate change plays at the board level for corporates and financial services companies in the UK and Europe.

“Nobody is addressing physical climate risk as comprehensively and effectively as Jupiter,” he added.
