Liberty bolsters financial lines with ex-Chubb hire in Netherlands

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), a part of Liberty Mutual Insurance, has appointed Bas Wijnhoven to the new role of senior underwriter – directors and officers (D&O) and crime for the Netherlands.

Wijnhoven will be responsible for developing the commercial D&O and commercial crime portfolio further with selected brokers with whom LSM in The Hague does business.

Wijnhoven began his insurance career in 1998 with Zurich, underwriting a variety of classes of business. He moved to Bloemers Nassau Groep in 2003, followed by Chubb in 2005.

Based in The Hague, Wijnhoven will report to Jona Alblas manager D&O/FI department.

Kadidja Sinz, LSM’s head of Europe, said: "This is a new role in our Netherlands team as a result of our commitment to delivering our specialty expertise and experience across Europe generally, and specifically into the Dutch market.

"With corporate boards facing increasing – often competing – demands from investors, regulators and other stakeholders, the need for insightful and disciplined financial lines underwriting is vital for our clients and broker partners. Bas’ local knowledge and technical expertise will help us achieve just that."
