Liberty poaches Aspen head

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed John Henderson as divisional underwriter writing energy liability, a new role for LSM.

Henderson joins from Aspen, where he spent the last ten years as head of underwriting for marine and energy.

He will report to Sean Rocks, chief underwriting officer commercial, and be supported by Lee Ackerman, AVP liability. Henderson will focus primarily on US clients with both domestic and worldwide presence.

Rocks said: “Energy liability is a growing market that offers some very attractive opportunities for specialist underwriters like LSM. Increasing our focus on energy liability, specifically casualty business, will allow us to leverage our expertise and powerful brand in this exciting sector. We already have a strong reputation in energy, but this push deeper into the liability side of the book will really enhance our offering.
