LIIBA appoints new chairman
Steve Hearn, deputy CEO of Willis Group Holdings has been elected as chairman of the London & International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA), an association which represents insurance brokers in London and international markets. He succeeds Graham Clarke of Miller, who continues as deputy chairman of LIIBA.
Hearn was appointed at LIIBA’s annual general meeting this month. He has served on the board since 2007, and for the past twelve months, he has served as deputy chairman of the Association.
“LIIBA’s top priority is to ensure that London remains where the world wants to do its insurance and reinsurance business. There are many aspects to this challenge. For example, attracting and developing the best possible talent; innovation of product and process; appropriate and proportionate regulation and ensuring the highest possible professional standards,” said Hearn.
“The broking community has a vital role to play in ensuring that London continues to be unrivalled as the pre-eminent centre of excellence for speciality and large and complex reinsurance and insurance business. I am honoured to have been chosen to chair this important body at this critical time for the London market.”
Hearn was appointed deputy CEO of Willis Group in January 2013. He has also been chairman and CEO of Willis Global since December 2011 and is responsible for Willis’ wholesale, specialist insurance and reinsurance brokerage and consulting services. He is a member of Willis Group’s Operating and Executive Committees, the senior management team setting and executing Willis’s global strategy. In January 2013 Mr Hearn was also appointed chairman of the London Market Group (LMG).
