Lloyd’s opens office in Mexico

Lloyd’s is set to open an office in Mexico City following approval from the Mexican authorities.

Gabriel Anguiano has been appointed as Lloyd’s first general representative in Mexico.

He will head up the representative office and will take up his new position in January 2015.

Lloyd’s Mexico will offer the opportunity for the Mexican representatives of Lloyd’s insurers to co-locate in the Lloyd’s general representative office.

Anguiano said: “I am delighted to be appointed as Lloyd’s representative and I look forward to establishing Lloyd’s presence in Mexico City. Mexico has one of the world’s fastest growing insurance industries and presents a wealth of exciting opportunities for the Lloyd’s market.”

Daniel Revilla, Lloyd’s head of operations & strategy, global markets, said: “The establishment of a representative office and Gabriel’s appointment as general representative underlines Lloyd’s commitment to Mexico. Lloyd’s has much to offer to the Mexican insurance industry as the economy continues to grow strongly. I look forward to working with Gabriel to support the development of Lloyd’s business in Mexico.”

Vincent Vandendael, Lloyd’s director, global markets said: “I welcome today’s announcement, which allows Lloyd’s to meet the market’s desire for a representative office in Mexico. It gives me great pleasure to appoint Gabriel as Lloyd’s first Mexico representative.”
