Markel expands PFR team with new Argo hire

Insurance firm Markel International has appointed Antony Hope from Argo Global as a senior underwriter and head of the management liability account in its professional and financial risks division (PFR).

Hope will report to divisional managing director, James Hastings and manage and underwrite the division’s international portfolio of management liability business. He joins Markel from Argo Global where he was deputy class underwriter for directors and officers liability insurance (D&O) since 2010.

Prior to Argo, Hope was D&O underwriter at Dual corporate risks and a D&O broker for HSBC Insurance Brokers.

Hastings said: “Antony is another senior appointment to our PFR team and he’ll be looking to grow our management liability business both in scale and by broadening the range of products that we offer our brokers and their clients.

“With 20 years in the market he is well known and has a strong and valuable set of broker relationships to add to our existing contacts.”
