Markel hires London retail underwriter

Markel UK, part of Markel International, has appointed Chris Frame as an underwriter in its newly created retail team in London.

Frame joins Markel after spending four years at Towergate Insurance where he was a development executive in the London financial risks team, handling professional indemnity, directors' and officers' and financial institution broking, predominantly for SME businesses.

He previously worked at Zenith Insurance Management.

Frame will report to Mark Lowther, who joined Markel in 2006 and now heads up the London retail team.

Melissa Kalsi, Markel UK’s southern regional manager, said: “Since launching our London-based retail team, we have been working to develop a strong and cohesive proposition for the London market for transactional small UK domiciled professional indemnity business, offering brokers both the ease of electronic placement and combined policies which can include additional covers such as D&O, office, PL and EL. Chris will further strengthen our capabilities in these areas, working closely with the wholesale underwriting teams.”
