Markel strengthens trade credit division

Markel International has appointed Maren Modena as senior risk analyst in its trade credit division.

Based in London, Modena will assist the team with the development and servicing of Markel’s trade credit and contract frustration portfolios. As a native German speaker, she will also be working closely with Frank Burghardt, who was appointed last year to spearhead the growth of Markel’s trade credit operation across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Modena joins Markel from Euler Hermes UK, where she worked for nine years as a senior risk underwriter. During this time she gained in-depth experience of underwriting corporate and sovereign risks across some 50 export markets, particularly in the Middle East, Central and South America and selective markets in Europe, Asia Pacific and Africa.

“We are delighted that Maren is joining Markel where she will be playing an important role in the continuing international development of our trade credit business,” said Ewa Rose, managing director of Markel’s trade credit division. “Maren brings a wealth of experience to the London team and she will also be working closely with our expanding teams in Singapore and Germany.”
