Marsh appoints risk director
Broker Marsh has appointed Sally Williams to the board of Marsh as director of risk and governance.
Williams will lead the development and adoption of Marsh’s risk management and governance policies across the firm's UK and Ireland activities.
She joins Marsh from National Australia Bank (NAB) Group, where she was head of risk, London branch, and a board member of NAB Europe. Williams succeeds John Nicholson, who retired from Marsh earlier this month.
Mark Weil, chief executive officer, Marsh UK & Ireland, said: “At Marsh, we believe that embedding robust risk management practices and ensuring that colleagues perform to the highest ethical and professional standards are absolutely fundamental in a well-managed company.
“The strengthening of our UK board with the appointment of Sally, who is a compliance professional of the highest calibre, is testament to our continued commitment to adhering to these standards.”
Williams added: “The global financial services industry remains under regulatory scrutiny following the financial crisis, and firms are faced with meeting the challenges presented by this changing regulatory landscape. I look forward to building on the firm’s best practices, and ensuring that Marsh continues to be regarded as an integrity benchmark for the industry.”
