Marsh & McLennan acquires US agency

Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA), a subsidiary of Marsh, has acquired Missouri-based independent agency JW Terrill.

MMA said the acquisition reinforces its commitment to building one of the nation’s preeminent insurance agencies.

Founded in 1972, JW Terrill provides commercial and personal insurance, surety bonds, risk management and loss control, employee benefits, and benefits administration services to clients throughout the US. It has approximately 195 employees and generates $32 million in revenues.

All of JW Terrill’s employees and leadership, including chief executive officer (CEO) Andrew Thome, will join MMA’s upper Midwest region and continue to operate out of its office in St Louis, Missouri.

“With its strong leadership, commitment to client service, and blend of risk management and employee benefits service offerings, JW Terrill is a perfect fit to join MMA,” said David Eslick, MMA chairman and CEO. “I welcome Andy Thome and his team and look forward to expanding our presence in the Midwest.”

Thome added: “As we enter the next chapter in J.W. Terrill's 43-year history, we are excited to join forces with MMA and provide our clients with an array of expanded services and our colleagues with additional opportunities. Our team is looking forward to retaining our successful operating model and culture while being able to collaborate with the great MMA agencies across the US.”
