Miller poaches Guy Carpenter’s head of political violence and terrorism

Miller has strengthened its political violence and terrorism team with a new hire.

Paula Smith joins Miller from Guy Carpenter where she was head of political violence and terrorism. She brings with her over 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry.

Miller has been expanding its reinsurance business in recent months, having also hired James Power as an exposure analytics lead, and opened a new office in Bermuda.

Mike Papworth, head of property and casualty at Miller, cited reinsurance as a key growth area for Miller. “At Miller, we pride ourselves on our deep industry knowledge and our ability to leverage long-standing market relationships to obtain the right cover on favourable terms,” he said. “Paula’s hiring strengthens our team’s ability to continue doing just that.”
