MS Amlin appoints lead class underwriter to target German market

Specialist global insurer MS Amlin has appointed Björn Gehrcken as lead class underwriter of marine and aviation, based in the company’s Hamburg office.

In his new role, Gehrcken will focus on cargo and cargo liability in the German market, working closely with the property and casualty team. He will also act as development underwriter for the company's other classes in the German market and will have access to MS Amlin’s global marine and aviation team.

Gehrcken previously worked for the insurance broker Oskar Schunck, where he held various roles.

Folkert Strengholt, managing director at MS Amlin marine NV, commented: "I am delighted that Björn has joined our team. His extensive market knowledge and experience will be invaluable to the broader team as we continue to strengthen our presence in the German market."

MS Amlin’s product offering includes war, P&I, specie, aviation, hull, cargo, yachts, liability and energy.
