African specialist underwriting agency Neema Insurance Managing Agency has launched a political violence and terrorism reinsurance product aimed at the African markets.

The product is supported by reinsurers including IGI, ASR and a number of Lloyd’s underwriters with experience underwriting risk in Africa. Neema said it will be launching “other reinsurance products in partnership with other reputable reinsurers very soon.”

Sharon Ng, principal officer at Neema, said: “The development of this political violence and terrorism reinsurance product is in line with Neema’s objective of offering customised reinsurance solutions to businesses in Africa. The launch is a direct result of the significant demand we have received for political violence and terrorism reinsurance.”

Leonidas Baragunzwa, previously regional director of Africa Re in Mauritius and board director at Neema, said: “I fully support Neema's various initiatives in Africa for Africa. Neema has grown significantly since the start of operations due to the team possessing a solution-oriented mindset and its commitment to service Neema's clients to the best of their ability.”

Neema is headquartered in Mauritius and regulated by the Financial Services Commission in Mauritius.
