Neon appoints group underwriting director from Ascot

Lloyd’s specialist insurer Neon has hired Theo Butt for the newly created role of group underwriting director.

Butt will join the group on Sept. 14, 2018 and report to group CEO Martin Reith.

Butt joins Neon from Ascot Underwriting where he has worked since 2006, leading their property underwriting since 2009 and as head of non-marine within their executive underwriting team since 2011. Prior to this, Butt held a variety of roles at Marsh and JLT.

Reith said: “I am delighted to welcome Theo to Neon. I know him well having worked with him for a number of years and he has developed an exceptional reputation in the market. Neon has made strong progress to date and Theo will work closely both with me and our underwriting teams to identify new opportunities and determine new strategies. I am confident he will enhance our position and performance and make a substantial impact as we continue to build out our business.”

Butt added: “I am thrilled to be joining Neon. The business is well positioned for further growth across a number of initiatives. I very much look forward to working closely with Martin and with Darren Lednor, Neon Underwriting’s CUO.”
