Neon hires former legal director as part of M&A team expansion

Specialist insurer Neon has appointed Vanessa Young as an underwriter and solicitor for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) insurance.

Reporting to Rob Brown, head of M&A liability insurance, Young will be responsible for serving clients M&A insurance solutions in strategic trade sectors, such as renewable energy, tech and funds.

Young has expertise in the renewable energy sector and advising infrastructure funds, private equity and other institutional investors, having most recently served as legal director at Bird & Bird.

Her appoint follows the hire of former Dentons partner, Andrew Thornton, as well as the hire of Neon’s specialist M&A team in 2015.

Her experience will enable Neon to offer clients specialist M&A insurance solutions in the renewable energy, tech and funds sector amongst other strategic trade sectors.

Martin Reith, Chief Executive Officer, Neon, commented: "We remain committed to our strategy of growing Neon by building on our existing capabilities in the areas where we have identified long-term growth opportunities. Vanessa’s hire is yet further evidence that Neon is providing an environment and platform which attracts some of the market's brightest and best and is an essential part of our growth plans.”

“As a former Legal Director of a leading city law firm, Vanessa’s hire will contribute to the ongoing expansion of the M&A team and demonstrates our commitment to growing the business as we continue to make a significant impact in this sector. We are delighted to welcome Vanessa to Neon and look forward to the ongoing success of the M&A team.”

Gregg McPhee also joins Neon today in the newly created role of head of political violence,  as reported on previously.
