Nexus bolsters financial lines division with Zon Re hire

Specialty managing general agent (MGA) Nexus Group has bolstered its new financial lines division with the hiring of Bruce Simmons.

Simmons will join Nexus Specialty in the US as vice president, management and professional liability.

Nexus said the launch of new financial lines suite of modular products, including miscellaneous professional liability, D&O, employment practices, fidelity, fiduciary, employed lawyers and cyber, comes at a time when the market has hardened and capacity is strained.

Prior to joining Nexus, Simmons was most recently chief underwriting officer of MGA Zon Re and his career has included roles at Gen Re, Allied World and Axa XL Catlin all within the management and professional liability sphere.

Adam Kembrooke, chief executive officer and president, Nexus Group US, said: “I am delighted that Bruce has agreed to join our exciting business. His deep technical understanding of our product coverages will certainly enhance our growing US financial product lines and service offerings to the US market.”

Stacy Paquet, head of management and professional lines at Nexus Specialty, commented: “We’re thrilled that Bruce has joined the team, and I am very much looking forward to working with him to grow and develop our product and to deliver the first rate service that we have already become known for.”

Simmons said: “I’m excited about working alongside Adam and Stacy. We share a common vision that data analytics will help drive best in class underwriting, relationship management and service deliverables to our SME clients. That vision, coupled with the entrepreneurial spirit, great culture and history of success that is Nexus created a truly unique career opportunity for me.”
