Novae hires cargo specialist from Mitsui Sumitomo Syndicate

Specialist listed Lloyd’s insurer Novae Group has appointed Helen Steadman as the head of cargo division. She will report to the head of marine Darren Carr.

Steadman has more than 10 years of experience in cargo underwriting, having most recently served as the cargo class underwriter at Mitsui Sumitomo Syndicate. Prior to this, she was a vice president at Marsh.

John Owen, divisional head of marine, aviation and political risk, said: “Marine is a key class for us and one we have invested heavily in over the last 12 months.

“Helen is a lead cargo underwriter and her expertise and technical proficiency will support and propel our ambitions in this class.”
