Probitas 1492 boosts Latin America presence with Lloyd’s hire

Probitas syndicate 1492 has expanded its Latin America presence with the appointment of Lloyd’s current Mexico country manager, Gabriel Anguiano, as head of strategy and business development, effective later in the year.

Reporting to chief executive officer Ash Bathia, Anguiano will have responsibility for driving business growth across Latin America.

Anguiano will join Probitas 1492 after nine years at Lloyd’s of London, where had opened Lloyd’s representative office in 2015.

Prior to this, he served as the Spanish Latin America market development manager, where he negotiated special relations the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between Lloyd’s and the insurance associations of Chile and Colombia.

Bathia commented: “We are incredibly excited and privileged to have attracted someone of Gabriel’s calibre to further strengthen our executive team. Part of our core strategy is to deliver new and accretive business into the Lloyd’s market, particularly out of Latin America, by reaching out to the original source of the business – Gabriel will play a significant role in allowing us to achieve this.”
