R&Q swoops on Markel for chief claims officer North America

Global specialty insurance company  R&Q Insurance Holdings has hired a new chief claims officer with over 20 years of industry experience from Markel.

Hillary Jarvis (pictured) joins R&Q as chief claims officer for North America. She will report to Andrew Pinkes, global chief executive officer of legacy insurance.

Jarvis was most recently managing director, claims – compliance and strategy at Markel where she led a team of 60 responsible for claims compliance, business intelligence, innovation, and strategic planning functions. Prior to that, she was general counselor, second vice president to the Travelers’ largest claims center. She started her career practicing law at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and was of counsel at Steptoe & Johnson.

Pinkes said: “I’m pleased to welcome Hillary to our Legacy leadership team. Creating a more efficient and specialised claims function is an important part of our objective to deliver best-in-class outcomes and become a more data focused and scalable Legacy solutions provider.
