RPC plans to expand in international casualty insurance space

Law firm  RPC has bolstered its insurance group as it plans to expand in the international casualty space where the company has seen an "increasing demand" for this expertise.

Lucy Dyson will join the firm's insurance group in London. She comes from DAC Beachcroft, where she specialised in international casualty coverage and disputes.

Dyson worked at RPC until 2010, before she left the firm to join Sedgwick Detert Moran and Arnold, followed by DAC Beachcroft in 2018.

With the rejoining of Dyson, RPC looks to strengthen its capacity to service insurers in the international, complex coverage space. The Insurance Group recently launched Global Access Lawyers alongside five other insurance law firms to offer insurers access to more joined up global claims' solutions.

Dyson will work closely with the company's international risk team, be tasked to build out international casualty practice.

Simon Laird (pictured), RPC's global head of insurance,  said: "Lucy's expert knowledge of the international casualty space will strengthen our support to clients in an area we have seen increasing demand for such expertise. When the opportunity presented itself to rehire someone of Lucy's calibre, it was a win-win situation for both our clients and RPC."

James Miller, RPC's managing partner, added: "Lucy is a very well-regarded lawyer known in the London Market for her international casualty insurance work.

"Our leading Insurance Group has seen a fantastic growth trajectory alongside our equally market-leading Commercial Group and she will be our fourth Partner hire in seven months (Tom Purton, Connor Cahalane and Andrea Randall) making us a go-to-firm for some of the most talented lawyers in the market."

Dyson commented: "I am delighted to be returning to RPC, particularly at such an exciting time for the business. The firm has a very special ethos, outstanding talent and is truly committed to insurance."
