Securis hires Ascot founder

ILS manager, Securis has appointed the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Ascot Underwriting, Martin Reith, as advisory director.

In the newly-created role Reith will help and advise with business planning and strategic development, participate on the Securis board, provide oversight of internal procedures and risk management, and help with introductions to cedants, brokers and investors, according to Securis.

Rob Proctor, CEO of Securis said: “I am delighted that we have been able to attract someone of Martin’s obvious stature, experience and calibre to work with us at Securis as we further develop our ILS and reinsurance businesses.”

These are exciting times as ILS continues to exert a disruptive influence on the global reinsurance industry with implications for the way all businesses in the space are structured and capitalised. As Securis continues to grow, including development into new areas, we can only succeed if we strive to attract the best talent in the business to help take us to the next level. In Martin I am confident we have achieved exactly that.”

Reith said: “I am very impressed with Securis. Since establishment the firm has delivered superior returns and grown steadily and successfully. As ILS funds have become a sustainable and important part of the global reinsurance landscape providing sophisticated capital and solutions, Securis is a beacon that shines bright. Rob, Espen and the Securis team have built a business with an enviable track record. I look forward to helping them identify and maximise opportunities and to assist shaping the strategic direction.”
