Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC) 2020 goes virtual with Swiss Re support
The organising committee of Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC), one of the key re/insurance events globally, has planned to host a virtual event this year with the support of global reinsurer Swiss Re.
Like many major international networking events, the physical SIRC event has been rescheduled to 2021, given the travel restrictions and social distancing measures due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
However, to fill the void, the conference organisers have decided to host a virtual event ‘SIRC 2020 Re-Mind’ on the same dates - November 2 to 5, 2020 – as the rescheduled 17th edition.
The event will feature senior leaders and experts from around the world engaging in discussions on a range of re/insurance topics, such as ‘Insurance digitalisation in a post-COVID world’; ‘De-risking global supply chains’; and ‘Managing climate risks'.
The event will be co-hosted by global reinsurer Swiss Re.
Marc Haushofer, chairman of the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA), host of ‘SIRC 2020 Re-Mind’, said: “We have thought long and hard about this and believe this virtual event concept is very innovative and will set the standard for industry conferences in the future digital world.
“We have shared this idea with several of our key stakeholders, including our regulator, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and they have been most supportive.”
