Sompo Canopius appoints chief commercial officer

Sompo Canopius has appointed Paul Kedney as chief commercial officer. He will also join the group’s executive committee.

Kedney will work closely with Stuart Davies, group chief executive officer and Mike Duffy, group chief underwriting officer.

This is one of a few recent senior appointments and organisational changes at Sompo Canopius. Kedney was previously the risk director at Aegis London and has 17 years of experience prior to his new role.

“Paul was one of the driving forces in making Aegis London a top performing business and it’s a coup to have persuaded him to join our already strong team at Sompo Canopius,” Davies said.

“I rate him as one of the sharpest people I’ve worked with and his considerable analytical skills and commercial acumen will be hugely valuable to us.”

Kedney added: “It is a pivotal time to be joining Sompo Canopius as it develops its strategy and builds on already strong foundations with the support of its parent company.

“I admire the ambition of the group and its positive approach to tackling the challenges of the market, and I look forward to working with Stuart and the rest of the leadership team.”
