Stephen Catlin joins technology-focused investment firm Motive Partners

Industry veteran  Stephen Catlin has joined Motive Partners, an investment firm focused on technology companies in the financial services industry, as a member of its global advisory council.

Catlin was the founder and CEO of Catlin Group, which was acquired by XL Group in 2015, and subsequently XL Catlin was acquired by AXA in 2018.

Catlin recently announced his return to the specialty insurance and reinsurance industry with the launch of Convex, partnering with former XL Catlin colleague Paul Brand. Operating both in operate in London and Bermuda, the start-up will underwrite insurance and reinsurance for complex specialty risks across a diversified range of business lines.

The global advisory council was established in 2017 to provide strategic guidance to Motive Partners and its portfolio companies and extend connectivity across technology, financial services and investment management. It is comprised of individuals from a variety of complimentary disciplines.
