Swiss Re appoints UK/Ireland corporate solutions head from Zurich

Swiss Re’s unit corporate solutions has appointed Jake Algar as head UK & Ireland, effective May 1, 2018 as the company expand the business.

Algar was previously head of real estate at Zurich Insurance Company.

In his new position, Algar will be responsible for managing the strategy, development and performance of the company's presence in the British and Irish corporate insurance markets, according to a company statement. He will also be instrumental in implementing the company's primary commercial insurance strategy and accelerating growth via its new regional hub in Manchester. Based in London, he succeeds Marc Davis, who will continue with corporate solutions in a fully dedicated capacity as head sales UK & Ireland.

"Jake is joining us at an exciting time," said Fred Kleiterp, CEO of Europe, Middle East & Africa, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. "We have expanded our regional presence in the UK and are starting to lead domestic and international corporate insurance programmes”.

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions serves clients and brokers in the UK and Ireland from offices in London and Manchester, and across the EMEA region from offices in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dubai, Frankfurt, Genoa, Johannesburg, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris and Zurich.
