Swiss Re Corporate Solutions unveils new head of South Africa

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of Swiss Re Group, has appointed Michelle Oosthuizen as head of South Africa.

In this role, Oosthuizen will oversee all aspects of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' business in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. She will relocate from Zurich to Johannesburg.

Oosthuizen joined the Swiss Re Group in 2000 as legal counsel and head of compliance to Swiss Re Africa. She has held various positions including head of claims Australia and New Zealand and, most recently, as global head of reinsurance contracts.

"I'm excited to appoint a leader like Michelle, who understands how Africa represents an open field for new risk management ideas and solutions," said Fred Kleiterp, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' CEO Europe, Middle East & Africa. "I'm confident that under Michelle's leadership we will continue to build on our success in South Africa and the Sub-Saharan region."
