Talbot opens Sydney office

Talbot Underwriting, a wholly owned subsidiary of Validus Holdings, has strengthened its Asia Pacific presence with the establishment of a Sydney office.

The initiative will be led by Adam Matteson, who will join Talbot to offer clients products available from Talbot’s managed syndicate at Lloyd’s of London, Syndicate 1183.

He joins Talbot from Arch Underwriting at Lloyd’s (Australia), where he served as regional director and established the local office in 2009.

James Skinner, director of underwriting for Syndicate 1183, said: “Adam’s expertise, relationships and knowledge of the region will be invaluable as we continue to take advantage of the increased opportunities we see in the Australian market and expand our presence in Asia Pacific.
