Third Point Re CEO Malloy exits SiriusPoint a year after merger

The former chief executive officer (CEO) of Third Point Re has exited Bermudian re/insurer SiriusPoint at the start of April.

Dan Malloy (pictured) was most recently the president of global distribution and services at SiriusPoint, a role he assumed after the merger of Bermuda-based Third Point Re and Sirius International Insurance Group. In this role, he was responsible for distribution and business development, as well as broker and client engagement. He also oversaw SiriusPoint’s runoff division.

Malloy had been with Third Point Re since its inception in 2012 and led Third Point Reinsurance Company since 2017, ultimately becoming its CEO in 2019. He previously served as the executive vice president, underwriting of Third Point Reinsurance Company.

He has more than 40 years of re/insurance industry experience. Prior to Third Point, he worked at reinsurance broker Aon Benfield for almost nine years where he co-led the specialty lines practice groups.

Effective April 01, Malloy has accepted the position of strategic advisor at a Bermuda-based company called Mesa’s Edge, according to his LinkedIn page.
