Tokio Marine HCC makes key French surety hires as it expands in Europe

Tokio Marine HCC, a subsidiary of global insurer Tokio Marine Group, has appointed Jennifer Metcalfe as senior surety underwriter - France.

She reports to the head of surety - France Aymeric Vinet Desrues, who was appointed in February this year.

Previously Metcalfe worked at Zurich as senior underwriter in the UK and France and she has 17 years of experience from across the European, the US and Australian surety markets to call on in her new role.

With more than 18 years of experience in the sector, Vinet Desrues joined Tokio Marine HCC from Chubb, where he worked between 2013 and 2018. Before that he worked at Zurich from 2007 to 2012. At both firms, Vinet Desrues launched and managed the French surety teams.

Tokio Marine HCC said these hires are an example of its strategy to expand its international surety capabilities in continental Europe. They also follow the recent appointments of surety underwriters in Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Vinet Desrues and Metcalfe are based in Paris and will support medium and large-sized businesses both in France and internationally through the company’s growing global network.

Metcalfe said: “The surety market in France has transformed over the last ten years due to high demand and an increase in capacity providers. For clients, brokers and financial institutions, it is important to understand what the market can offer them. I am confident that the Paris surety office of Tokio Marine HCC will add considerable value to the market, and I look forward to being able to meet the needs of our clients while also being able to use the expert capabilities of the group.”
