TransRe strengthens leadership in US, LatAm and Asia

TransRe, the reinsurance arm of Transatlantic Holdings and a wholly owned subsidiary of Alleghany Corporation, has made a series of appointments in North America, Latin America & Caribbean and Hong Kong.

Ben Hodge, who is currently the vice president of TransRe’s North America property treaty team, will assume responsibilities as the new team leader, based in the company's Bermuda office. Hodge joined TransRe in 2014 to support the development of the Florida and regional books of business.

John Fugit has been transferred to underwriting from risk management to execute and manage TransRe’s property flood business strategies. He previously served four years at TransRe Capital Partners, where he worked on retrocession and risk financing programmes.

In the Latin America & Caribbean region, Hugo Cardona has been appointed as vice president of marketing and business development. In his new role, Cardona will oversee regional client relationships, including responsibility for developing new client relationships while liaising across all lines of business. He has previously worked with several reinsurers and brokers in the Latin American market.

In Hong Kong, Fiona Au will replace retiring general manager Peter Ho. Au joined TransRe Hong Kong in 2008 as a lead actuary covering the full range of actuarial functions.

Elizabeth Geary has been promoted to lead TransRe’s global cyber liability team. In this role, Geary will manage the existing book of business, oversee all risk analytics around cyber exposures, and develop new research, products and services to identify and protect against emerging cyber risks. Geary joined TransRe in 2003 and since then she has held increasingly responsible underwriting and risk management roles in both specialty casualty and property.

Finally, Tony Izzo has joined TransRe’s business development team to help develop, strengthen and grow relationships with key reinsurance brokers worldwide. Izzo will work with TransRe’s global office network to enhance the production and delivery of analyses and insights to our largest multi-national customers.

Izzo joined TransRe in 2014 after serving as the leader of the North America facultative/programme business and retail construction group for Aon.
