Travelers appoints head of General Aviation

Travelers has appointed David Watts as head of General Aviation for Travelers Syndicate Management (Syndicate 5000 at Lloyd’s).

Watts most recently worked at Catlin Canada, where he held the role of director, underwriting. Watts is relocating from Calgary to the UK to lead the Travelers general aviation account at Lloyd’s.

With 19 years’ experience in the insurance sector, Watts began his career in Canada as a claims examiner for British Aviation Insurance in 1994. He moved into underwriting in 1999 with Global Aerospace, and then served as senior vice president for Marsh in 2002, where he managed the company’s Calgary broking hub for all London market placements.

“David is an extremely well-regarded figure in the Canadian insurance market and has strong connections with the London market,” said Jon Woodrow, head of Aviation and Space for Travelers Syndicate Management. “He brings with him a real breadth of experience and his arrival greatly strengthens our aviation team.”
