Travelers hires former Towergate exec for VP role in Europe

The Travelers Companies, a property/casualty insurance firm, has appointed Mike Lawton as vice president of business insurance for Travelers Europe.

Lawton will have direct oversight of Travelers Europe’s business insurance unit and he will report to Matthew Wilson, Travelers Europe’s chief executive officer (CEO).

Lawton joins Travelers from Towergate Insurance, where he served as CEO of its broker division. He has more than 20 years of experience in financial services and insurance, holding leadership positions at RSA and leading the GE consumer finance business.

“Mike is a highly experienced executive with a solid track record of success,” said Wilson. “His knowledge of products and distribution will build upon our efforts to provide enhanced service and offerings to brokers and customers throughout the UK and Irish markets.”
