UAC and MGAA become reciprocal members

The Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) and the London-based Managing General Agents Association (MGAA) have become reciprocal members.

UAC is now an honorary member of MGAA and MGAA is an affiliate member of UAC.

The arrangement follows MGAA director Charles Manchester’s attendance at UAC’S Sydney Expo in March and earlier negotiations in London by UAC’s Immediate Past Chairman Heath Amber.

William Legge, general manager of UAC, said forming a closer business relationship with MGAA followed UAC’s March announcement of a reciprocal membership agreement with the American Association of Managing General Agents (AAMGA).

Legge said the joint actions by UAC and MGAA signified the start of a relationship that would have great benefit for agencies in both countries.

“UAC and MGAA have likeminded goals of increasing the focus on member education programs and representing our memberships at industry and regulatory levels,” he said.

Legge also said the partnership was an excellent outcome for UAC and its members, adding: “In conjunction with the AAMGA relationship, it enables UAC to offer discussion capabilities with our industry niche across a major slice of the global insurance market.”

Manchester said MGAA, like UAC, “believes strength lies in working together on matters of shared interest”.
