US firm Heffernan Insurance Brokers acquires construction specialist Mahan

Major US broker Heffernan Insurance Brokers has acquired the assets of the Newport-based Mahan Insurance Brokers, with the deal effective from October 1, 2019.

Members of the senior team from Mahan, including CEO Michael Mahan and account manager Marissa Garmendia, will join Heffernan’s Irvine California office. Company president Robert Mahan will continue to play an active role in advising clients on the Newport broker’s specialty: construction insurance. This acquisition will enhance Heffernan's niche practice in this area, the company said.
