Volante appoints underwriting and franchise director from QBE
Volante Global, a new multi-class and multi-territory international managing general agent (MGA) platform, has appointed Jerry Probert as underwriting and franchise director.
Probert has over 35 years of underwriting experience. Prior to joining Volante, he was director of Europe at QBE’s European operations, responsible for a diverse portfolio including general liability, D&O, PI, property and motor. He joined QBE in 2007 from Gen Re, where he headed up their UK and European facultative casualty and financial lines portfolios.
In his new role, Probert will work closely with Talbir Bains, founder and CEO of Volante and the executive committee to manage the firm’s global underwriting strategy, and to monitor technical and business performance across all portfolios within the group.
Commenting on the appointment, Bains said: “Jerry is a fantastic addition to the Volante team and brings an outstanding level of underwriting expertise and leadership experience to the role. His appointment underlines our continued commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest standards of underwriting excellence across the Group.”
