Willis boosts health and productivity unit

Willis North America, a unit of risk advisor and broker Willis Group, has appointed Ronald Leopold as national practice leader, health outcomes, in Willis’s human capital practice.

Previously, Leopold served as national health and productivity practice leader for Wells Fargo Insurance Services, and prior to that, he was the national medical director for MetLife.

Leopold will be based in Atlanta and report to Jim Blaney, chief executive officer of Willis human capital practice.

In his new role, Leopold will lead the health outcomes practice and focus on integrating clinical data analytics with Willis' health and wellness offerings to help employers develop a comprehensive strategy to lower medical costs and risks, and improve the health and productivity of their workforce.

He will focus on a variety of areas to help organisations, including: assessing the impact of healthcare reform on benefits strategies; integrating technologies with health and wellness data; and, leveraging employee absence and productivity data to help firms optimise the business value of a healthier workforce.

Blaney said: "Maximising productivity is a top business objective. We know employers struggle with developing and implementing comprehensive health management strategies across the spectrum of employee health risks. The hiring of Dr. Leopold puts Willis in an even better position to help its clients identify and implement the best solutions in health, wellness and workforce productivity. He brings a reputation and recognition that is second to none."
