WTW mines Marsh for industry expert to expand in casualty market

Global broker WTW has mined the casualty leadership of rival Marsh to further develop and execute an industry vertical growth strategy for its casualty business across North America.

James Sallada (Pictured) has been appointed WTW’s head of casualty for North America within its Corporate

Risk and Broking (CRB) business. He will be based in New York.

WTW intends to utilise his extensive carrier relationships “to craft client-first insurance solutions to meet the casualty needs of North American customers.” Additionally, Sallada will partner with colleagues across CRB’s North American business to tailor risk-management strategies to address the specific casualty requirements of clients across the region.

Sallada most recently served as managing director and northeast risk management placement leader for casualty at Marsh, where he served in various senior client-facing roles for more than 20 years. While at Marsh, he also previously worked in the private equity practice, and has been bringing tailored casualty insurance programmes to clients for the entirety of his career.

Jon Drummond, head of broking CRB North America, said: “James is an established leader in the industry with unparalleled knowledge and expertise in casualty insurance. He has a proven track record of creating a culture that celebrates innovation, diversity and is a vigilant champion of talent development.

“There is not a better person to lead our team forward in this new era where our focus will be on driving client value through industry expertise.”

Michael Chang, head of Corporate Risk and Broking, North America, WTW, added: “James is a well-known industry expert in the casualty market, and we are delighted to bring his expertise into the suite of custom solutions we aim to bring clients, based upon deep technical and industry expertise.”
