XL Catlin appoints country manager for Switzerland

Michael Rüsch has been named country manager for XL Catlin’s insurance operations in Switzerland, effective July 1.

Rüsch is currently underwriting manager, casualty, responsible for Switzerland and Asia Pacific, as well as head of the CUO office for the international casualty unit. Along with his new role as country manager, Rüsch will maintain his position as underwriting manager, casualty for Switzerland.

Rüsch has worked for XL since 1997, holding various underwriting and management roles with a wide geographical remit, including the UK, Ireland, Asia, Australia, France, Italy, Iberia and Latin America. He began his insurance career at Winterthur Insurance.

“Switzerland is home to a range of mid-sized and large multinational companies, many of which are world leaders in science and engineering,” said Dieter Goebbels, regional manager insurance for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Benelux, “Our insurance operation provides these companies with the global programme insurance cover to help them operate around the world.”
