XL Catlin bolsters marine underwriting team in Latin America
XL Catlin has strengthened its marine underwriting team in Latin America with a series of new hires and promotions.
In Brazil, Karina Amaral was appointed marine cargo underwriter; Cintia Takahashi turned marine liability underwriter; and Aline Watanabe has been promoted to marine cargo manager. They report to Paulo Alves, head of marine, Brazil.
In Mexico, Francisco Campos has been hired as marine cargo underwriter; Rubén Chanona promoted to head of marine, Mexico; and Nalini Vargas elevated to marine cargo junior underwriter. Campos and Vargas will report to Chanona.
"In 2016, our marine insurance team achieved outstanding growth across the different products we offer," said Mauricio Giuntini, regional head of marine, Latin America. "In order to keep underwriting market-leading insurance for our brokers and clients, it is critical that we continue to invest in our team."
The company stated that Takahashi and Amaral bring strong technical underwriting experience in the fields marine liability and cargo and construction equipment, respectively.
Watanabe, who joined XL Catlin as marine underwriter in August 2011, has served as lead of cargo global programmes during her tenure, developing multiple products at SUSEP and is now leading the commercial and underwriting strategies as well as managing broker relationships.
