XL Catlin hires former RSA accident and health specialist

The insurance operations of XL Catlin has appointed Toni LePine as senior underwriter and head of retail accident and health for UK and Ireland.

LePine has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, having most recently served as accident and health leader at RSA, where she was responsible for the management of the company’s portfolio and technical capability.

Prior to RSA, she held a number of underwriting management roles, including personal accident manager and professional indemnity underwriting manager.

Patrick Corbett, global chief underwriting officer for retail accident and health said: “We are building out our global retail accident and health team because we recognise there is a distinct opportunity to bring something different to the market in terms of coverage and servicing.

"We know that having the right talent on board is crucial to our success and that is why I am delighted to welcome Toni to the team. Her experience and technical approach to underwriting make her a great fit for the role.”

Andrew McMellin, chief executive for the UK and Ireland, added: “Clients are looking for modern coverage designed to safeguard their staff against today’s risks, whether at home or when traveling abroad. The breadth of the coverage and quality of the service can be viewed as a key benefit for employees, and companies recognise the role such insurances play in retaining and attracting their own talent, as well as delivering on their duty of care. We understand this dynamic and want to make sure our new product suite is market leading and recognised as such.”
