XL Catlin hires from Liberty Mutual as part of A&H expansion

XL Catlin has expanded its accident and health (A&H) insurance business with the appointment of Ronnell Agatep as its global head of underwriting, based in New York.

Reporting to Patrick Corbett, global chief underwriting officer for retail A&H, Agatep will be responsible to drive product development and underwriting guidelines for the newly launched retail A&H business unit.

Agatep has over 25 years of experience, having most recently served as senior vice president of global A&H at Liberty Mutual.

Prior to this, he has held senior A&H management and underwriting positions in the US, UK, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

Corbett said: “We are excited to enlist such experienced global A&H underwriting management talent as we build our new product portfolio. Ron’s global experience, along with our global insurance network, puts us in a strong position to help our clients protect their most valued asset -- their employees -- wherever they do business or wherever their business may take them.”

“We’re fortunate to work with colleagues who have already built out an impressive specialist accident and health portfolio for niche and wholesale markets.

“Now, with Ron’s added insight and guidance, we look forward to extending into the retail space to round out XL Catlin’s global A&H offering and to help meet our clients’ growing demand for A&H insurance coverage.”
