Allstate SCS-season cat losses hit $2.4bn as July bill surges 3.7x

US retail P&C insurer Allstate suffered a major jump in July cat losses sufficient to bring its running four-month storm season tally to $2.4 billion, a 10.6% year-on-year gain, but still well short of the first attachment point on its aggregate catastrophe reinsurance.
